<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The purpose of the study: the study of the characteristics of the intestinal microbiome in young men who are professionally engaged in sports.Materials and methods: the study involved 36 young men aged 18 to 26 years. Fecal samples were taken from the study participants and then bacterial DNA was isolated from the obtained samples. Results: comparing the intestinal microbe of athletes with the control group, it is possible to trace the positive effect of sports on the overall diversity of representatives of the intestinal microbiota. When analyzing the taxonomic composition, it is worth separately noting the increase in representatives of lactate-producing bacteria and the increased content of Akkermansia muciniphila in athletes. Conclusions: the results of the study indicate the effects of sports training on the human gut microbiota and suggest the presence of a close two-way relationship “microbiome — muscle tissue”.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>микробиом</kwd><kwd>лактат</kwd><kwd>пребиотики</kwd><kwd>муцин</kwd><kwd>мышечные волокна</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>microbiome</kwd><kwd>lactate</kwd><kwd>prebiotics</kwd><kwd>mucin</kwd><kwd>muscle fibers</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">статья подготовлена на основании результатов, полученных в ходе реализации Соглашения о предоставлении гранта в форме субсидии из федерального бюджета на осуществление государственной поддержки создания и развития научных центров мирового уровня, выполняющих исследования и разработки по приоритетам научно-технологического развития, от 20 апреля 2022 года (№ 075-15-2022-310).</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">the article was prepared on the basis of the results obtained in the course of the implementation of the Agreement on granting grant in the form of a subsidy from the federal budget to provide state support for the creation and development of world-class scientific centers performing research and development on the priorities of scientific and technological development of April 20, 2022 world-class scientific centers that perform research and development on priorities of scientific and technological development dated April 20, 2022 (№ 075-15-2022-310).</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Hughes R.L., Holscher H.D.
